HMRC will switch OFF their current CHIEF system (AKA the “Customs Handling of Import & Export Freight”) on 30th September 2022 for all new import declarations.
The new CDS system (Customs Declaration System) will replace it.
You’ll need to Register for CDS – but this can take time, so do this SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.
Many businesses will already have a UK Government Gateway account to access their personal or business tax account, and they should use this account to register for CDS.
